Michelangelo was rumored to have said he could see the statue in the rough marble; it just needed to be uncovered. If you can see a golf course in that raw terrain, here's one of your main tools for making your masterpiece.
The Sculpt Tools work by changing the cursor into a "brush" in the Top View. The area inside the brush tip as seen on the screen is the area that is changed by the tool. Holding down the Shift key reverses the effects of the tool.
This tool is particularly useful for making a quick mountain or adjusting a difficult part of a green.
When you click on the tool, the Sculpt Terrain dialog box will appear.
Brush
This control lets you choose the shape of the brush in the Top View. Your choices are Square, Circle, Rectangle and Ellipse. The apparent size of the brush tip depends on how far in or out you have zoomed.
Depth
This control lets you choose the altitude change that will occur at the spot of the brush tip. Your choices are Small, Medium and Large.
Clip by Selection
When this box is checked, the brush tip will only affect terrain inside a selection marquee. When this box is not checked, the brush will affect terrain wherever it touches the course.
Clicking on the course will cause the altitude of that spot to rise.
Shift-clicking will cause the altitude of that spot to drop.
It's a good idea to place a camera near the spot you're sculpting, so you can watch the effects.
This tool resizes objects incrementally within the brush area.
Clicking on an area will make the objects within it grow larger.
Shift-clicking will make the objects within the area grow smaller.
